How to steal garbage ?

So I really need a 2L juice carton for a science project but I don't have one! The neighbours have put out their recycling bins and I'm planning on just casually looking through it for a carton. Is this legal? I mean it's not like they're ever gunna use it again and it's not killing anyone! Also I'm saving the earth cuz it's nit going to a landfill. And how can I steal it without them knowing?:D thanks
